Polly Morgan, one of our beloved long-time members, passed away late last Saturday night after a long battle with cancer. 
Polly moved from Minnesota to Jupiter, FL in 1973, and lived in the Waterford retirement community in Juno Beach from 2011 on. She loved her family, her friends, the residents and the staff at the Waterford, and the members of the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Palm Beaches. 
She was curious, kind and thoughtful, and she lived life to the fullest. Polly is survived by three children, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and many friends. 
Donations in honor of Polly's life may be made to the Loggerhead Marine Life Center in Juno Beach by calling 561-627-8280, or online at www.marinelife.org.

We are all dying, our lives always moving toward completion.
We need to learn to live with death, and to understand that death is not the worst of all events.
We need to fear not death, but life—
      empty lives,
      loveless lives,
      lives that do not build upon the gifts that each of us has been given,
      lives that are like living deaths,
      lives which we never take the time to savor and appreciate,
      lives in which we never pause to breathe deeply.
What we need to fear is not death, but squandering the lives we have been miraculously given.
So let me die laughing, savoring one of life’s crazy moments. Let me die holding the hand of one I love, and recalling that I tried to love and was loved in return. Let me die remembering that life has been good, and that I did what I could. But today, just remind me that I am dying so that I can live, savor, and love with all my heart.

Our office is open Monday – Friday 9:30–12:30 except for holidays.
Rev. Dan is usually in his office Tuesday 3–6pm and Thursday 9am-Noon. He is also available other times by appointment. He & Tess have covenanted with each other to make Friday a sacred day off for both of them, so he will not be available most Fridays unless there is an emergency.

Susan Bickel
Susan Tiedemann Bickel was born and raised in North Palm Beach and in the First Unitarian Universalist Church here. As the daughter of Hal and Eunice Tiedemann, and the step daughter of George McLafferty, Susan spent a large portion of her childhood actively involved when the church relocated from West Palm Beach to North Palm Beach 30 years ago, and she watched it grow in membership and support in the community.
The UU Principle of acceptance of one another has shaped much of Susan's life and her beliefs, as has the UU call to action in helping our fellow humans. Susan has put those tenets into action as a teacher, an environmentalist, a member of the boards of two national conservation organizations, and currently as President Pro Tem of the Village of North Palm Beach Council.
Susan earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and a Master's in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked in government under Congressman Tom Lewis, in finance, and has been a teacher for 24 years. Currently she is Science Coordinator and Science Department Chair at The Benjamin School.
Susan is the mother of a 12-year-old daughter who was dedicated at 1stUUPB in 2006.
