Prelude: Change the
World (T. Sims, G. Kennedy
& W. Kirkpatrick)
Call to Worship: Some People
Say That Jesus Is The Light Of The World
(Leader) Some people say that Jesus
is the light of the world. We all can be the light of the world if we seek to
act in ways that enlarge the realms of love and justice.
When we share another's pain or
offer a comforting ear to a friend in need,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we give bread to the hungry or
support ways to house the homeless,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we fight temptations to
wrongdoing within ourselves and treat our neighbors with respect,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we try to overcome differences
with understanding and solve conflict with peaceful means,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we look for the good in other
people and in ourselves,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we do not stay quiet in the
face of prejudice, but speak our minds firmly and gently,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we fight despair within ourselves
and side with hope,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
When we use our powers justly and in
the service of love for humanity,
(All) We are the light of the
world.
We are the light of the world! Amen.
Lighting the Chalice Flame: Come, Come, Whoever You Are
Come,
come, whoever you are.
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving.
Ours is no caravan of despair.
Come, yet again come.
Ours is no caravan of despair.
Come, yet again come.
Affirmation: Love
is the spirit of this Congregation and service is its law. This is our great
covenant to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love and to help one
another.

Hymn: Building A New Way
We are building a new
way, (x3)
Feeling stronger ev’ry
day,
We are building a new way.
We are building a new way.
We are working to be
free, (x3)
Hate and greed and jealousy.
We are working to be free.
Hate and greed and jealousy.
We are working to be free.
We can feed our every
need. (x3)
Start with love, that is the seed.
We can feed our every need.
Start with love, that is the seed.
We can feed our every need.
Peace and freedom is
our cry. (x3)
Without these this world will die.
Peace and freedom is our cry.
Without these this world will die.
Peace and freedom is our cry.
Extinguishing the Chalice Flame:
We extinguish this flame, but not the light of truth, the warmth of community, or the fire of commitment. These we carry in our hearts until we are together again.
