Call to Worship

Lighting the Chalice Flame
Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving.
Ours is no caravan of despair.
Come, yet again come.

AffirmationLove is the spirit of this Congregation and service is its law. This is our great covenant to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love and to help one another.

Hymn: #160 For Too Long, by Fear Divided

Moment of Silence & Candle Lighting

Religious Education Class: Go now in peace, go now in peace; may the spirit of love surround you everywhere, everywhere you may go.

Offertory: Romance from “The Gadfly Suite” (Shostakovich)

Sermon: Muslim Man: Threat or Menace? Ameer Tohamy

Tala Al Badru Alayna
(Translated by Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens)

O the White Moon rose over us
From the valley of Wadā‘,
And we owe it to show gratefulness,
Where the call is to Allah!

O you who were raised amongst us,
Coming with a word to be obeyed,
You have brought to this city nobleness.
Welcome best caller to God’s way!

Hymn: #95 There Is More Love Somewhere

Extinguishing the Chalice FlameWe extinguish this flame, but not the light of truth, the warmth of community, or the fire of commitment. These we carry in our hearts until we are together again.

Postlude:  Vuelvo al Sur (A. Piazolla)

If you have an item for UU Matters, please plan accordingly and email it to admin@1stuupb.org by the Thursday BEFORE publication. Thanks for understanding.
OFFICE SCHEDULE: Kim is on vacation and will return Wednesday of this week. She will return emails and voice message at that time. Thank you for your patience as Kim takes some much-deserved time away.
REV DAN’S CALENDAR: Rev Dan is at General Assembly (the annual UU conference) in Spokane, Washington all this week and will return Tuesday, June 25. He will have access to email and be available by phone & text during that time. He’ll also post video updates.
